Zambales gets a new district jail! The province and BJMP partnered to build a dedicated facility, improving services for Persons Deprived of Liberty.

Currently, individuals awaiting trial or serving sentences in Zambales are held at the Olongapo District Jail in Olongapo City. This new project will change that.

The agreement, called a Deed of Usufruct, allows the BJMP to use a 12,950-square-meter piece of provincial land in Sitio Buen, Barangay Mambog, Botolan, for the construction of the new facility.

This purpose-built will cater to Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) from across Zambales, especially those under the jurisdiction of the Regional Trial Court of Iba in the 2nd congressional district.

BJMP Regional Director Jail Chief Superintendent Paulino Moreno, Jr. emphasized the significance of this move, stating, “This Deed of Usufruct is a testament to the compassion of our local government for the welfare of Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) and the entire criminal justice system. Granting land use through a Deed of Usufruct is a truly humane step, as it recognizes the need for a proper, safe, and dignified facility for our PDLs here in Zambales.”
