A fire in the city late Monday night took the life of a 40-year-old man. His mother was also hurt and had to go to the hospital because of the smoke.

The fire started around 11:30 p.m. on Sunday in a small, two-story house in Barangay West Bajac-Bajac. The house was made of light materials. Firefighters were able to put out the fire quickly, by about 11:50 p.m.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said they are still trying to figure out why the fire started and what caused the man’s death. They also mentioned that the fire seemed to have begun on the second floor of the house.

This fire happened after another fire on Easter Sunday at some shops on Magsaysay Drive in Barangay East Tapinac. Some well-known places like Sam’s Pizza were affected by that fire.

The BFP hasn’t shared more details about either fire yet, like what started them or if anyone else was hurt.
