The city has officially confirmed Rolen Paulino Jr. as its leader, following the election results announced by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Tuesday, May 13.
Paulino Jr., a lawyer and the son of a previous mayor, will serve his third and final term, having won the May 12 elections with 28,814 votes.
He came out ahead of three other candidates: Vice Mayor Jong Cortez, who received 18,934 votes; Barangay Chairman Echie Ponge, who got 18,498; and businessman Arnold Vegafria, who earned 9,588 votes.
Adding to the new city leadership, Councilor Kaye Ann Legaspi, also a lawyer and who was on the same ticket as Cortez, was declared the new vice mayor.
